Hanford · Freund & Company was founded in the 1930s by Lloyd D. Hanford. Mr. Hanford was a pioneer in the field of property management. As a founder of the San Francisco Chapter of the nationally recognized Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and an early president of IREM, Mr. Hanford led the effort to establish standards of excellence, ethics and education in the industry.
In recognition of his contributions, IREM created the Lloyd D. Hanford Sr. Distinguished Faculty Award which is given to members of IREM's teaching faculty who best exemplify dedication to the advancement of education within the property management profession.
