J. Timothy Falvey, CPM, CCAM, CMCA - Senior Vice President
Mr. Falvey has been active in real estate management since 1984, and real estate brokerage since 1988. His association with Hanford · Freund & Company began in 1990 when he joined the firm as a Property Manager. In 1994, Mr. Falvey acquired Hanford · Freund & Company, and became President of the firm. Upon the sale of the company to EBMC, Inc. in 2016, Mr. Falvey assumed the title of Senior Vice President. He is a Certified Property Manager® (CPM) and a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA).
A fourth generation San Franciscan and graduate of the University of San Francisco, Mr. Falvey is a member of the Golden Gate Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics.
Mr. Falvey's involvement in the real estate industry includes two terms as a Director and Chief Financial Officer of the San Francisco Association of Realtors®, where he also chaired the Property Management Committee, Finance Committee, and the Governmental Relations Committee. He served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Realtors®, where he chaired the Common Interest Development Committee. He has served as the Chair of the San Francisco Building Owners and Managers Association Political Action Committee, as well as the BOMA Government Affairs Policy Advisory Committee.
In 2003, Mr. Falvey was named REALTOR OF THE YEAR by the San Francisco Association of Realtors.
In addition to his involvement in the real estate community, Mr. Falvey is active in a number of other business, civic and charitable organizations. He served three terms as President of the Union Square Association, and was instrumental in the merger of that organization with the expanded Union Square Association Business Improvement District, on which he served as Treasurer and Board Secretary. He was an active member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Renovation of Union Square, and served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Small Business Network.
In 2004, Mr. Falvey was named SMALL BUSINESS OWNER OF THE YEAR by the Small Business Network.
Mr. Falvey currently serves on the Board of Directors of North Beach Citizens, a non-profit organization that provides solutions to homeless and low-income citizens. Prior to that, he served as a Director of Operation Dream, an organization devoted to providing educational and recreational opportunities for children in San Francisco public housing projects. Mr. Falvey is the recipient of a special COMMENDATION awarded to him by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in recognition of his involvement in the community.
Jay Kacirk, CPM, Emeritus, CCAM - Executive Vice President
Jay Kacirk, CERTIFIED PROPERTY MANAGER EMERITUS(key no. 10303), is the Executive Vice President of Hanford-Freund & Company, AMO® for. Prior to this position, he was the co-owner of Coastside Property Management, Inc., having acquired the firm in 1988. The portfolio of Coastside was mainly condominium homeowners’ associations. At present, the portfolio of the Los Angeles office consists of 9 affordable and 1 market rate apartment communities while the San Diego area office consists of rental trusts. In the Bay Area, Jay oversees the managers of a residential rental pool of houses and apartment communities, as well as managing a retail portfolio in Calistoga, California.
Jay is an active participant at the local and national level in the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), where he served as 1992 San Diego Chapter President. He was selected by the chapter as recipient of the "CERTIFIED PROPERTY MANAGER® of the Year" award for 1989. He is past chairman of the Ethics Committee for the local chapter, and is certified to instruct several national courses and seminars. These include "Successful Site Management", which has involved the training of over 700 residential managers.
Jay has also taught property management for the UCSD Extension in La Jolla and for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). He served a two-year term as Regional Vice President of Region 11 (California and Hawaii) in 1998-1999. In this capacity he oversaw the activities of the 10 IREM chapters located in these 2 states. In 2000, Jay was awarded the Professional Achievement Award from IREM National. In 2014, he became a manager member and designee of the California Association of Community Managers (CACM).
As a past member of the Board of Directors of Resident Relations of California, a landlord-tenant mediation firm, Jay has been involved in a variety of programs to provide education and improve landlord-tenant relations in San Diego. In 1999, he was appointed by the Mayor of Poway to the Poway Housing Commission, where he served for 7 years as Housing Commissioner and Vice Chairman.
Jay is a former Director on the Boards of two non-profit foundations. He served as the president of the Bobby Jo Lewis Foundation, headquarted in San Diego and is a former Board member of the IREM Foundation, headquarted in Chicago, Illinois.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Computer Information Systems from National University. In 2014 he was awarded the CCAM (Certified Community Association Manager) designation by CACM. He resides in Petaluma, California.
